TWO WORDS with Damir Canadi

Summer of 2017. The search of finding a new coach in Atromitos has finally reached to an end by signing Austrian Damir Canadi. Unknown to Greek people, but willing to work, the Austrian coach was initially treated with suspicion, but he quickly turned it to endless love, support and respect by the fans. Boosting Atromitos with good football and winner mentality, the west suburban team reached even 1st place in the Greek League table for some fixtures, winning the clap from all the intelligent Greek fans. How did you start your coaching career ?

I started my coaching career 2001 in Vienna at the club Fortuna 05.
It was the 4 League called „Wiener Liga“.

What was your Goal when you become a coach ?

Surely i was focused to be successful. First of all I wanted to improve the players and to play in a modern way. I was one of the first coaches who changed to a four backline defense.
I started very early using Videoanalysis and consequently i dreamed about to became a coach in a professional league.

What is the worst and the best moments in your career ?

The worst Moment was to realize that i couldn`t go on with my professional career as a football player due i had big problems with my hip.
Sure a worse moment is all the time when you fail. Fortunately i had not many of these moments.
I had many best moments. Achieving goals is always great . So i had many great moments with many clubs. Logically one oft he last great moments was with Atromitos.

What is your general view of your 2 years in Greece ?

I found many new friends in Greece and i felt very fast familiar.
I was lucky and proud to have the opportunity to stay just in one club, which is not so common in these times (but not only in Greece). I wish that the clubs have more patience with the coaches , that they can realize their philosophy and to force also young players from Greece.

Unbelievable , fantastic club, familiar

What do you think about the level of Greek football ?

Greece has many good football players. The Level is a good one.
Specially the big clubs in Greece need not shy away from comparison to other European clubs.
And even the clubs in Greece with small budget are prepared to face to other clubs in Europe so the level is a good one.

Who did you believe deserves more the Greek Superleague ?

The Club who after the whole competition is on position 1 deserves the League 

Two teams you that you have in your heart.

All the clubs were i have been successful i have in my heart.

Personal advice to young football players.

„Work beats Talent until Talent begins to work.“
So many young Greece players have a huge talent ….but without working hard many of these players are nor able to make the final last step…….so keep working hard for your dream.
